My Path to Wellness: How Ally Kauzlarich Found Her Voice Through Fitness

Ally flexes in front of a mosaic wall with a big smile

As a person who stutters, Ally grew up worried that she would never find her voice in life. Finding a spark of courage in school sports, she began an inspiring journey of self-acceptance, learning to shed her insecurities and treat herself with the kindness she deserves.

By shifting her mindset away from unrealistic beauty standards and towards self-love, she realized what a strong, confident woman she truly could be. Ally’s journey is proof that the strongest quality anyone can have is self-confidence, and we are proud to share her story with you.

Hi fit52 family,

Thanks for clicking on this post and taking the time to read. I am Ally Kauzlarich, a 22-year-old “Michigander.” I’m from Warren, MI, but I recently moved to the St. Clair Shores area and am attending Eastern Michigan University (I’m about to graduate in April with a degree in the French language!). I am a person who stutters, I have a love for volleyball, CrossFit, and of course, fit52. I wouldn’t be here without this community and the joy it brings to my life.

I’m a person who always finds the mini blessings in life and seeks the growth that is ahead of me. I have had a stutter since I was 4 years old, and I never thought I could find my voice in life. When I began playing volleyball in 6th Grade, I started to find my courage and my voice in sports. Then in my junior year of high school, I started to really take my health seriously and begin my fitness journey. I realized I wasn’t treating myself kindly. I wasn’t nourishing my mind and body the way they needed to be. I knew I wanted to make a change in my life, but I didn’t know where to start. I had this inner drive in me that kept saying “just go for it, keep seeking, searching, it will come.”

I started to train my mind to be more attentive to my body, trust my heart, and know that I deserved more than my old habits.

It wasn’t until I discovered fit52, macro counting, and CrossFit, that I realized how much taking care of yourself goes beyond physical training. I started to train my mind to be more attentive to my body, trust my heart, and know that I deserved more than my old habits. I found myself motivated by the fit52 community, opening up to people that I knew would surround me with love, support, and walk with me to become the best version of myself.

It has taken me years to understand that “progress” isn’t ever about physique or the number on the scale. It’s about waking up every day and having a positive outlook on yourself and your life. To have a heart filled with confidence, love, and joy. It’s damaging to chase progress if it means being defined by what you see in the mirror.

The biggest advice I can give you is to trust the process and have patience. Your path isn’t a race, it’s a journey that always changes and creates new opportunities to grow. You aren’t bound to one goal—you have space to create many goals. So try new things, see what makes your heart filled with passion, and find your path one step at a time.

Follow me on my journey and never hesitate to reach out. You are already like family to me, and families like this must stick together.

– Ally
